Welcome to God's Church
and Our Congregation!
Oaklette United United Methodist Church
We are located at 520 Oaklette Drive, Chesapeake, VA 23325, which is the corner of Indian River Road and Oaklette Drive in the Indian River/South Norfolk area of the city. ANNOUNCEMENT FROM PASTOR TIM: I will be appointed to a new church the first of July. Lori and I will be relocating to Vienna, Virginia in Fairfax County where I will be serving the Andrew Chapel United Methodist Church. This decision did not come lightly. I have sensed God’s call in a new direction for my ministry since last fall. I can assure you that this has not been an easy discernment process for me. Lori and I have come to love you as a part of our family and you will be sorely missed! Over the course of the last 12 years, we have had much to celebrate as a congregation and I thank God for those years of wonderful ministry together with each and every one of you. The Rev. Ned Alderman will become your new pastor as of the first of July. Ned is a wonderful pastor and a friend of mine. I believe you will love him as much as you have loved me. My last day in the pulpit will be Sunday, June 25th. I do know that the Staff-Support Team is planning a reception for Lori and I on that last Sunday. As Oaklette experiences this transition I will be in prayer for you; all I ask is that you be in prayer for Lori and I and the people of Andrew Chapel.

As United Methodist we believe. .
In one true, holy and living God.
In Jesus Christ, truly God and truly man.
In the Holy Spirit, who convinces the world of sin and leads us to faithful response to the scriptures.
In the Holy Bible, both the Old and the New Testaments as the revealed Word of God.
In the Christian Church as the community of all believers under the Lordship of Christ.
In the Lord's Supper as the representation of our redemption, a memorial of the sufferings and death of Christ, and a token of love and union which Christians have with Christ and with one another.
And in baptism, which signifies entrance into the household of faith, and is a symbol of repentance and inner cleansing from sin, and a representation of the new birth of Christ Jesus and a mark of Christian discipleship. We believe children are under the atonement of Christ and as heirs of the Kingdom of God are acceptable subjects for Christian Baptism.
